4-Hour Colour Education Session
Glossing is often the first colour service apprentices perform in the salon and one of the most rushed. When apprentices don’t understand why they’re glossing, confidence drops and results suffer.
This session breaks glossing down in a clear, practical way, helping apprentices move beyond “just following a formula” and start thinking like colourists. The focus is on tone, sectioning, technique and real salon application, the skills that actually support senior stylists and elevate results on the floor.
Hosted in my hair home, Have A Nice Day Hair, in the heart of St Kilda.
What Apprentices Will Learn
- What a gloss actually does (and doesn’t do)
- How to consult and choose the right gloss approach
- Fool-proof sectioning patterns
- Key salon gloss techniques (zone toning, root tap, root stretch, face framing)
- Formulating for the desired result
- Common glossing mistakes and how to avoid them
- Tips for capturing simple, professional social media content

- Live colour demonstration using Kevin Murphy colour
- Hands-on practical work on a live model
- Guided discussion and problem-solving
- Small, intimate class environment with individual feedback

Ideal for first, second or third-year apprentices looking to build confidence and progress safely on the salon floor.
Numbers are strictly limited to keep the session hands-on and personal — not a classroom-style environment.
What You’ll Need
- Hairdryer
- Tail comb
- Cutting comb
- Wet brush
- Sectioning clips
- Live model suitable for a gloss service
Session Flow
- Arrival: 10:00am
- Live demo: 10:15am – 11:15am
- Models arrive + hands-on: 11:15am – 1:30pm
- Content tips + problem solving: 1:30pm – 1:45pm
- Group discussion + recap: 1:45pm – 2:00pm
